Don Harris, a University of Saskatchewan Music Professor, is the principal author of a new edition and French translation of two national music curriculum and standards publications. The documents are designed to guide school administrators and teachers as they design programs that will teach music to students from Grades 7 – 12 or Secondaire 1-5 in Quebec.

CARACAS -- By the time Lennar Acosta was introduced to classical music at age 15, he had been arrested nine times for armed robbery and drug offenses. A year into the youth's sentence at a state home, a music teacher came to offer the delinquent, abused, and abandoned children there free instruments, instruction, and an opening to a new life.

The Long & McQuade Annual Guitar Summit takes place this year in Toronto on Wednesday, March 29th at Healey's. This showcase of the hottest guitarists in town supports the work of the Coalition for Music Education in Canada.

The British Columbia Coalition for Music Education, with the support of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, celebrates these unsung heroes with the 2006 Principals of Music Awards.

The Ontario Music Educators’ Association and the Canadian Music Industry Education Committee will be presenting its annual conference November 2-4, 2006 at the Hilton Hotel and London Conference Centre in London Ontario. This conference titled, Unison’06 will be an opportunity for students, teachers and industry members throughout our province to get together to share music and learn together.
