The Coalition for Music Education in Canada, in partnership with Business for the Arts and the Royal Conservatory of Music, is proud to present a very special benefit evening in support of music education.

Sir Ken Robinson takes the stage to share his passion and arguments for transforming the culture of education through a richer vision of human ability and creativity. Join us in an evening rich in inspiration. Celebrated artists will add their magic to the evening with special musical performances from jazz saxaphonist/flautist Jane Bunnett, 21-year old piano prodigy Alexander Seredenko, 12 year old violinist Bora Kim, singer/songwriters Dala along with students from Unionville High School. Jim Fleck, O.C., Chairman of Business for the Arts (BftA) and winner of the 2009 Governor General’s Award for Performing Arts will be the evening MC. Ticket price includes a copy of Sir Ken Robinson’s new book, The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything.

CBC RadioCBC Radio 2 will record the evening for excerpt in programming throughout CBC Radio on Music Monday, May 4, 2009. Once again, our national broadcaster will turn the spotlight on music, education and children in support of the Coalition’s fifth annual Music Monday celebration of music education.

Tickets will sell out quickly as this is a small and intimate theatre. Be sure to order your tickets today. In addition, we will raffle a digital piano generously donated by Yamaha Canada. The Yamaha Modus F11 has a MSRP of $8899.00. The winner will also receive 500 Yamaha MUSICmiles to be donated by the winner to a public school of his/her choice. Only 300 tickets will be printed and will be sold for $40 each or 3 for $100. Purchase raffle tickets at the event or in advance by calling 416-298-2871.
